Double decker deal came with a double decker adventure for Kaley Sorenson, the owner of Double Decker Fresh Fires.
Owning your own business is dream come true for many people. Owning your own business in a scenic tourist town such Lava Hot Springs is a livable fantasy. Kaley Sorenson already offered delectable sweets at her waffle house, Lava Waffle. However, in 2021 it was time to branch out.
After searching the international market she found a double decker bus that had already been converted into a restaurant. It was perfect for what she wanted. The trick was getting it where she wanted. It was 2021 and summer was about to start. The double decker diner was in England, UK and it needed to travel half way across the world to Idaho, USA.
The plan was for it to be shipped to Florida and be driven across the country, but when it arrived it refused to start. The transport ship was on a tight schedule that wouldn’t wait for a stubborn vehicle. It took off with the bus on board to Canada. The back up plan was that it would start in the Maple Country to drive to Idaho, but it once again refused to start. The middle of summer was around the corner and the new diner still hadn’t arrived. Without out any communication it might be consider that the previous owner scammed the business woman.
The transport ship doubled back to Florida, and this time it started. For the next two time zones the old double decker bus was running nonstop. It it was turned off it wasn’t sure if it would start again. So when it was gassed up it was running. If it was time to rest for the night it remained running.
By the time the old transport made it to Idaho the summer was half over. When it finally parked it was at bad angle, and not able to start her back a lift had to be brought in to get her in just right spot. Now to start cooking.
At first the menu included burger and fries, but due to complications they had to drop the burgers and stick with fries. Considering the diner’s origin fish and chips might make a popular choice.
The Double Decker Diner can be found in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. It is in a charming spot nestled in a grass field along the river bank between 1st Ave E and N 2nd E. If you happen to be riding on a tube down the river you will likely see to your left before going under the Thayne and Ivan Williams Bridge for pedestrians. You can enjoy your choice of gourmet fries on top the double decker bus, in the pavilion, or as a picnic in the park. If you are staying at one of neighboring inns, you might even enjoy them next to pool while you soak your feet in a hot spring.
