There are legends of places that exist one day and the next they are gone. It could be an island, a town, or building like a shop or an inn. In some of these legends a person is taken to these locations. In others, the location comes to them. In the mountains of Utah, exists a castle that appears during a certain time of year. It is called Ice Castle. As the name suggests, it appears in the winter.
Ice Castle started over a decade ago when a family moved from coastal California to snowy Utah in the Rocky Mountains. Having six “stir-crazy” kids the father decided to build ice caves in his front yard to get them out of the house. The neighbors and their kids took noticed and called it “Ice Castle.” The name stuck and more people became fascinated by the freezing sculptures. Each year the castle would appear and vanish then appear the next even bigger. It has even moved from the front yard to different locations to accommodate for its increasing size. Every winter, depending on the weather, hundreds to thousands of family enjoy visiting the winter wonder land that is Ice Castles.

Like all vanishing places, Ice Castle can be visited at specific times when the time are right at locations where the conditions are right. Make sure to check their website for where they are available and when they are open.
What do you make out of ice and snow during the winter?
